Lancashire Band Skye Impress at Breaking Bands Festival 2026

One of the latest bands that has helped to showcase the strength of Lancashire’s local metal scene is Skye. The band performed on the Heartwork Clothing Stage on Saturday, 23rd of May, 2026, and didn’t hold back.

Skye Are Steadily Building Momentum in the UK Metal Scene

Although Breaking Bands are known for introducing audiences to new artists rather than established names, Skye have already begun to build a loyal following through their catalogue of melodic metal tracks. Some of their most-played songs include Evolve, What Am I, Ascend, Arise, and Last Memory.

The tracks demonstrate heavy guitar work with soaring melodies and an atmospheric soundscape, blending powerful riffs with excellent songwriting while blazing their own path in the local metal scene.

Skye’s polished performance stood out at the Breaking Bands Festival, with the band performing on the same day as Skarlett Riot, Gypsy Pistoleros and Rupcha Farms. Other bands on the bill included Gin Annie, Alabama Crow, Neonfly, and Electric Black.

Since the festival launched in 2015, it has hosted 300 artists, with nearly every year being a sellout. All profits the festival generates are put back into improving the event, helping it to become one of the most respected grassroots rock and metal festivals.

Breaking Bands is Undergoing a Rebrand for 2027

The festival has served as a platform for Lancashire bands over the years, but 2026 marks the end of an era. Organisers have since announced that the festival will be evolving to become Ascendancy Festival from 2027, but even though the name is changing, the focus remains the same.

Performances from bands like Skye show exactly why Breaking Bands has become a stepping stone for the next generation of British metal, and as the years go by, the impact is only going to be felt more.
