Insomnium Announce New Album Netherworlds and 2027 UK Tour with Amorphis

27 Jul 2026

Finnish melodeath favourites Insomnium have announced the release date for their long-awaited new album, Netherworlds.

They’ve also confirmed a UK tour for 2027, supporting fellow Finnish legends Amorphis.

Netherworlds, the band's ninth studio album, is set for release on October 16, 2026. Pre-orders are available now across a range of physical and digital editions. To celebrate the announcement, the band have also released a second single from the record.

New Single 'Gleam in the Black' Released

"Gleam in the Black" arrives alongside a cinematic new music video directed by Patric Ullaeus of revolver Film Company AB, a long-time collaborator with the band.

The track offers another glimpse into the melancholic soundscape that Insomnium are renowned for. Bassist Niilo Sevänen said the song is one of the faster tracks on the album and expects it to become a live favourite.

He explained that Netherworlds tells a dark and mysterious love story, with that atmosphere reflected throughout both the music and lyrics. "Gleam in the Black" follows souls wandering through nocturnal forests in search of something lost long ago, something that can only be reached through dreams.

Patric Ullaeus' accompanying video mirrors this perfectly, capturing the haunting atmosphere, bleak landscapes, and cinematic storytelling that Insomnium are known for.

Netherworlds Arrives This October

Netherworlds lands in record stores on October 16, 2026, and will be available in a variety of formats for collectors and vinyl enthusiasts. These include Sparkle Starlight 2LP and Iridescent Pearl Dawn 2LP editions.

Amorphis Unveil New Music Video for 'The Lantern'

Finnish metal veterans Amorphis have also released a music video for "The Lantern", a standout track from their 15th studio album, Borderland. The song blends the band's signature melodic death metal influences with progressive undertones. Tomi Joutsen's powerful vocals and Pekka Kainulainen's evocative lyrics are brought to life by a striking music video directed by Patrik Skoglöw.

Inspired by Tuonela's black river, "The Lantern" takes listeners on a haunting journey, showcasing the rich storytelling and distinctive sound that have made Amorphis one of Finland's most enduring metal bands.

UK Fans Can Catch Insomnium Live in 2027

Alongside the album announcement, Insomnium have confirmed they will be touring the UK as part of the Amorphis Borderland Tour 2027.

  • Wednesday, February 3, 2027 – O2 Forum Kentish Town, London
