Ozzfest to Make Its Birmingham Debut at Villa Park in 2027

The official Ozzfest Instagram account posted the news. In a matter of hours, the post had thousands of reactions and received praise from numerous metal stars, including Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil and Korn’s James "Munky" Shaffer.

This will be the very first time the festival has come to Birmingham, even though the city is known for being the birthplace of Black Sabbath. They performed their first gig in July 1968 at The Crown Pub on Station Street, under their original band name, Earth.

Ozzfest was launched by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne in 1996 and quickly became one of the biggest heavy metal festivals in the world. Ozzfest toured across the US, UK and Japan, with 2018 marking its final year.

No line-up, ticket details or dates have been announced yet. Speaking to Jack Osbourne on The Osbournes Podcast, Sharon confirmed that for major festivals like Ozzfest, planning has to be done two years in advance.

She also wants to include young talent, adding that this is exactly what Ozzy would have wanted. In an interview with Metal Hammer, Sharon confirmed that she had already been talking with performers about their availability.

A Return to Villa Park After Back to the Beginning

The announcement has confirmed that Ozzfest will be brought back to the same venue that hosted Back to the Beginning on July 5, 2025. The all-day concert saw Ozzy Osbourne play his final set. It also marked the first time that the original line-up of Black Sabbath performed together in 20 years.

The line-up consisted of Metallica, Pantera, Gojira, Slayer, Halestorm, Lamb of God and Mastodon. Tool and Guns N’ Roses also performed. Tom Morello served as musical director and referred to it as “the greatest heavy metal show ever”. All profits were split between Acorns Children’s Hospice, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Cure Parkinson’s.

Birmingham Celebrated Ozzy Day in 2026

The city has continued to celebrate Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy. The first official Ozzy Day was a huge success. 

Bostin Brass played numerous pop-up sets throughout the day, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra performed outside Selfridges. Fans were given the chance to take photographs with Ozzy the Bull, which received an Ozzy-inspired makeover for the occasion.

The day coincided with the Ozzy Osbourne: Working Class Hero exhibition, and limited-edition Ozzy Day T-shirts were sold, which featured all 52 Birmingham shows he played during his career with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist.

Ozzfest’s return makes Villa Park the centre of another major moment in Birmingham’s metal history. For now, fans will have to wait for confirmation of the dates, format and line-up.
