16 Jul 2026
Shadow Company have been crowned as Burnley's winner of Metal 2 the Masses.
Lancashire heavy metal band Shadow Company were crowned champions of the Metal 2 the Masses competition in Burnley, securing one of the most sought-after prizes for emerging acts.
The Burnley final took place on 27 June at Sanctuary on Cow Lane, where a packed crowd watched some of the strongest heavy metal bands in the county battle it out for a place at Bloodstock Open Air.
After a memorable evening, Shadow Company were announced as the winners, earning the right to perform on the New Blood Stage at Bloodstock. The stage has become a platform for rising metal bands and helps give grassroots artists the chance to perform in front of thousands of people.
The 2026 Burnley final featured an impressive selection of local talent, including Shadow Company, Only the Righteous, Azimuth Rising and Nerve Agents.
The standard throughout the competition highlighted the strength of the UK metal scene, with each band bringing its own unique style and energy to the stage.
Metal 2 the Masses has become one of the most important competitions for unsigned acts in the UK, with regional heats held across the country. Each winner progresses to the New Blood Stage, gaining additional exposure and the chance to perform at one of Europe's leading heavy metal festivals.
Sanctuary Rock Bar has established itself as a key venue for heavy music and also hosts charitable events such as Regain Festival.
For Shadow Company, their victory marks a major milestone and provides them with a well-deserved opportunity to perform in front of a huge audience at Bloodstock Open Air.
With another successful competition now complete, attention is quickly turning to next year's heats. Bloodstock Open Air is set to take place from Thursday 6 August to Sunday 9 August.
Shadow Company are performing on Saturday 8 August, and it's going to be one to watch.
