Tony Iommi Announces New Solo Album and Unleashes Single World Alone
30 Jul 2026
Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi has announced his long-awaited solo album, From the Dark.
Unveiled at a press conference in Birmingham on 29 July, the album is set to drop on October 23 through BMG. The announcement comes not long after Ozzy Day was celebrated in the city.
The New Single “World Alone”
To celebrate the announcement, Iommi premiered the lead single, "World Alone."
The new track sees Iommi joined by legend Jorn Lande, whose unmistakable vocals drive the song alongside Iommi's signature heavy riffs and solos. Lande co-wrote the song with Iommi and had a part in shaping the record's dark atmosphere.
Merciful Fate bassist Becky Baldwin also joined Iommi in the studio, while longtime collaborator Mike Exeter co-produced the album.
Track Listing for Beyond the Dark
The video for "World Alone" places viewers in a dystopian world, where a character known as The Believer navigates the unknown. They fight through a mysterious video game with a single goal: to survive. The visual style mirrors the album's themes very well, while Jorn Lande's lyrics explore humanity, mortality, and the bleak landscape of the future.
The standard edition of From the Dark features eight tracks:
Over the Violent Sun
Black Times
World Alone
Beyond the Dead
Stormwatcher
Death Wake
Return of the Arbalist
Legacy
A deluxe CD will also be available, featuring two bonus tracks: "Defied" and "Scent of the Dark."
With "World Alone" now available and From the Dark coming on October 23, Iommi looks set to remind the world exactly why his riffs defined a whole genre of music.
Fans can pre-order the new album from local record shops like Townsend Music.
