New Music Friday: Spiritbox, Insomnium, Blue Medusa, Slipknot, and Beast In Black

Spiritbox - “Mourning”

Canadian metalcore band Spiritbox have released their new single, “Mourning”.

The release comes ahead of their European headlining tour, which starts in Glasgow later this month. The single follows on from their 2025 album, Tsunami Sea, and sees them once again pair Courtney LaPlante’s vocal range with undeniably dark melodies.

“Mourning” is an atmospheric addition to the band’s growing catalogue and is a sneak peek into what to expect next from the band.

Insomnium - “Arch of the Sky”

Finnish melodeath veterans Insomnium have shared “Arch of the Sky”, the latest single from their upcoming album, Netherworlds. Known for their intricate guitar work, they’re one of the most respected names in the melodeath scene, having been going for almost 30 years.

This, combined with their previous single releases, “Gleam in the Black” and “Shadowlife”, helps to set the tone for their next full-length release. The band are touring with Amorphis in the UK in 2027.

Blue Medusa - “Crocodile”

Blue Medusa has released “Crocodile”, which continues the momentum behind the project from former Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. The track starts with aggressive vocals and a darker edge, showing the heavier direction the band is taking. The track refers to the dread of knowing that something dangerous is lurking nearby, even when it cannot be seen.

Slipknot - “Arsenal”

Also releasing new music is Slipknot. They have released a surprise track with “Arsenal”. This is the band’s first song in three years. The single is also the first release through their new label, (sic)est Records. It’s the first studio recording to feature drummer Eloy Casagrande.

“Arsenal” delivers frantic drums, distorted riffs, and chaotic energy, giving fans insight into the band’s next chapter.

Beast In Black - “Fear The Beast”

Finnish power metal band Beast In Black has released “Fear The Beast”. It’s the title track from the band’s upcoming album of the same name, and brings together soaring choruses with dramatic production. The song blends power metal with electronic influences and huge hooks. The band has an upcoming gig in the UK, in London.

Gloryhammer - “Warriors of Auchtermuchty”

Gloryhammer have also released a new single, “Warriors of Auchtermuchty”. This is from their upcoming album, Space 1993: Wrath of Kor-Virliath. The track gives fans further insight into the band’s fantasy-driven sound. It showcases the galloping riffs the band is known for, and also features Noa Gruman and the Hellscore Choir. Best-known as the vocalist from Scardust, Gruman adds a new dimension to the band’s instantly recognisable sound.
